Welcome to Steelfighting.com, the home of New Ulster Steel Fighting Martial Arts and the New Ulster Fighting System. If you are interested in or have a passion for the history of Medieval and Ancient warfare and martial arts, I think you will be greatly satisfied with what is to come here in our blog. We are going to cover a great number of topics pertaining to various weapons systems of these periods in history,who used them, and to what avail. We will explore heavy and light cavalry, heavy and light infantry, siege weapons, armor types and individual warrior kit and gear of various cultures. We will discuss logistical aspects of the various historical campaigns and what innovations were made in this area of warfare. We will discuss specific battles that took place in history from the Classical, Ancient, “Dark Ages,” Medieval and Renaissance periods in history and the leaders that took part in these martial endeavors. The people, places and events are endless. Your friendly and respectful participation is welcome and we look forward to engaging in these discussions with you.
Likewise we will also have fun discussing the various brand names and forges of today’s Western martial arts. We will give our take on the quality of the various brands, and which ones we have found to be the best based on our experience. We will also have fun discussing movies and books with themes or topics related to our art and areas of interest. Likewise we will have some “how to” postings for making items useful to the Western martial artist. We hope you will join us within the next few days as our first real topic is posted.
